BANGALORE: The passengers of a Bangalore bound Rajahamsa Executive bus (KA19-F 2597) landed in a police station en route after a few hours of their journey to file a complaint against KSRTC bus services.

After a horrifying experience on a bed bug-infested bus, the passengers were forced to get down at the Channarayanapatna police station where they filed a complaint and demanded a replacement of the bus.

A few hours into their journey, the passengers started complaining about the bed bugs in their seats. The driver and conductors who were used to such complaints did not bother much.

A little later, the passengers started complaining to each other of swollen hands and legs and they forced the bus driver to stop the bus at the next town police station.

“ All the seats were infested with bedbugs and it was disgusting,” said Linet Pinto, a passenger.

This is a regular problem in the night buses and especially Rajahamsa and other sleeper couches. I have had such experiences when travelling from Mangalore and Sirsi, she added.

Channarayanpatna police station sources confirmed that a complaint has been filed by the passengers of the bus on November 8, 2009 at around 10.15 pm.

KSRTC Managing Director Gaurav Gupta told Express ‘‘We are taking measures to get rid of the bed bug problem, he said. The vehicles go for a chemical treatment once in a month. However, with regard to cases like this, we would change the buses of the particular route.

We have recently replaced some 30 to 40 buses.’’
