BANGALORE: The fifth Regional Abacus and Mental Arithmetic Competition held here on Sunday saw participation of 1,687 students from across the state.

SIP Academy India had organised the event. The contest tested the skills of children aged between 712 years. Fifteen children were crowned champions in 11 different categories. The competition - Level 1 to the Grandmaster Level - tested the concentration, confidence, intelligence, speed and accuracy of the participants. The aim of the competition was to develop a competitive spirit among the children.

"Creativity is the process of generating new ideas or finding new solutions to challenges. With a high level of creativity, the are no problems. All problems are challenges and challenges lead to opportunities. Opportunities are the pathway to success," said Gururaja Kajajagi, founder of Academy for Creative Teaching.

On the occasion, Zonal Coordination Committee of Karnataka for Transplantation organised a special talk on organ donation to sensitise parents and society towards the noble cause. Talks were organised on other topics too, such as child sexual abuse.
