BANGALORE: The devotees and supporters of Paramahamsa Nithyananda on Tuesday staged a protest outside the office of Ramanagara SP.
They demanded that an FIR be filed against Lenin - former disciple and a close aid of Swamy Nithyananda, who had shot the alleged footage which showed the godman in a compromising position with a Telugu actress.
A release issued by the ashram stated that the devotees, on August 9th, had filed individual complaints against Lenin stating that he was continuing to abuse Nithyananda, his followers and his ashramites, both publicly and privately.
Earlier this year, Lenin had gone on local and national TV alleging that Nithyananda had a physical relationship with over 40 women, including sannyasinis and brahmacharinis of the ashram, and the wives and daughters of local organisers.
In response to these allegations, the devotees approached the Bidadi police station to file an FIR against Lenin.
The release stated that the Bidadi police had, however, refused to lodge an FIR against Lenin.
It stated, “By law, an FIR should be filed on the spot, whenever a complaint is lodged with the police. Refusing to file an FIR is illegal.”
Meanwhile, since, the Ramanagara SP was not available, the DySP, Sri Bisanahalli, directed the devotees to return to the Bidadi police station tomorrow.
