BANGALORE: The special inquiry squad of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) have cracked the murder case of a Kannada film and television actress.

The case was initially registered as a missing case at Nandini Layout police station in July this year.

One person Yogeesh (33) and supari killers Vikran alias Loki (29), Anil (22), Radeesh alias Babu (26), Arun (22), Kempa and Prakash (25) have been arrested.

Police said Yogeesh was married to the victim, Manjula. They also said it was her second marriage.

Manjula played the role of supporting actress in Kannada movies like Appu, Omkara and Prana and she also acted in TV serials like Guptagaamini.

Police said Manjula was the singer of a band nine years ago. She was married and had two children.

Yogeesh, a BBMP contractor, fell in love with her and she hid the fact that she was married, police said.

Police said she deserted her husband and lived with Yogeesh.

She also reportedly lied to Yogeesh about her children and said they were her sister's kids and that her sister died in a road accident.

Yogeesh married Manjula some years ago and she began her career as an actress in films.

After a few months, Yogeesh suspected her behaviour and there were misunderstandings between the couple, police said.

The rift between them increased when Yogeesh was assaulted by some goons who were reportedly hired by Manjula.

When he asked for divorce, she demanded `40 lakh, police said.

Yogeesh then allegedly hatched the plot to kill her and paid `7 lakh as supari to the other six accused.

Manjula was strangulated to death on July 10 in sleep at her house.

They buried her body in Tavarekere near Magadi Road, police said.

On July 12, Yogeesh filed a missing complaint.

CCB sleuths took up investigations and picked up Yogeesh after collecting circumstantial evidences against him.

Police have recovered `6 lakh supari money and `52 lakh from Yogeesh's house.
