BANGALORE: All scientists sat together once, discussing death seriously. The hour of death has come to a person. It was expected that he would die within a few minutes. Then he breathed his last. He died, and soon his sight and movements ceased. It seemed he was 70 to 80 years old.

His physical frame was good for 70 to 80 years and there was no harm done to it. Now when he passed away, his body would begin to rot in about two to three hours. If it was there more than that, it would begin to stink. The scientists were discussing and analysing the situation. He was old and doing everything actively till then. All activities stopped when he died. There began a discussion about  how the body would begin to rot. Then they came to the conclusion unanimously.

“The body has energy, without which there is no value. If it is there, the body will have its worth. It is not something that is available to scientists. It cannot be subjected to experiments. That which has been guarding the physical body , and has been providing all the strength and energy, under whose impact the organs of sense are carrying on their work, it cannot be subjected to our experiments. It is not possible to experiment on them.” Hence they had come to some conclusion regarding god and his existence.

There are certain things beyond the cognisance of man's intellect and sense organs. Some of them can be shown through experiment, and proved. But some others cannot be done likewise. What was there before death? It cannot be shown after death.

Everyone has the soul. It is invisible to the eyes and impossible to touch. It transcends the senses. As long as there is soul in nit, the body will be active. It is the soul that gives strength or energy. As soon as the soul leaves the body, its transactions end. It loses its value and will perish. Thus the body and the soul united together is called a human being. The body takes its birth, grows and dies. But the soul is imperishable. It continues to exist for thousands of years. When the soul leaves the body, it enters another. After leaving that, it takes another. In this way, the soul continues its incessant movement. But the scientists decided that they could not show it practically. That is the vital matter.

If the scientists come to know the concept of god, this can be made clear. They call it 'athma', which means 'soul' in English. The soul is the Supreme Being who is the fundamental energy to the body. The eye views everything under its influence, the ear listens and the mouth talks. All activities take place owing to this energy and its impact. The body is a thing that comes to be ruined. So if we come to the next point, we need both the knowledge of the body and that of the soul. Both should amalgamate if our life has to become perfect.

At present, they give attention only to the knowledge of the body, but not to the knowledge of the Supreme Being. It is what id said of aathma in the Bahagavadgeetha. No rule or custom or religious or scientific treatise intersect it. The atom bomb cannot do anything. Neither fire burn it, or water soaks it. The wind does not blow and carry it high.

This is how the body is a Being, that takes its birth, grows up and is destroyed. The soul, the Supreme Being is indestructible. It is everlasting. The body gets the strength to carry out all activities, under the influence of the soul. If life has to be consummate, attention should be given these days in the world, to the knowledge of the body as well as that of the soul. Nobody is viewing a flawless life. Death means, 'the soul giving up the body.' If it is understood that there is a soul, the concept of god dawns later.
