Since the Shastra considers water body and fish placed at an appropriate location as auspicious and symbols of good fortune, it also marks out an ideal aquarium with the right balance of the number and types of fish. “We follow nine-planet concept, which demarcates seven planets along with two other namely, Rahu and Ketu. Accordingly, fish in an aquarium should be a combination of seven Gold fish and two black fishes,” says Niranjan and adds that if the aquarium is large sized, number of Gold fish should be a multiple of seven and number of black fish should be a multiple of two.
According to experts, the best station for an aquarium is the North-East zone, as it also gets you rid of the faults related to the corner. “Care should be taken to not to position the aquarium at the junction of two walls. Such zones are considered as negative or paisach zone, which signifies, full of negative energy. Fish in such an aquarium exhibit agitation to an abnormal extent,” adds Niranjan.
But the important aspect is to take good care of your pet, which also requires an optimal environment inside your underground world. Water inside the tank should be cleaned at regular basis as dirty water brings bad power. “vastu benefits can be obtained only if proper care is taken. Fish should be alive, water should be active and the aquarium should be kept in the right place,” says Niranjan.
“Water should be cleaned after every 10 days without draining out the aquarium completely. Only 30 per cent of the tank water should be replaced with fresh water. Light plays an important part in an aquarium, but if left glowing throughout, the aquarium can face algae bloom leading to contamination of water. Moreover, the food for fish should be floating and should not sink in,” says Narayan K, curator, Cubbon Park Aquarium.
