BANGALORE: Sandalwood has done it again by bagging two awards at the 57th National Film Awards. Girish Kasaravalli bagged the best screenplay writer award for 'Kanasemba Kudureyaneri,' produced by Basanth Kumar Patil. It is the first time that a Kannada book on cinema has got an award. Dr K Puttaswamy's book - 'Cinema Yaana' - has got the best book on cinema award. Kannada film 'Putani Party' has bagged the best children's film award.

Kasaravalli said that it was the second time a Kannada film was selected for the best screenplay award. ''I think 2010 is an auspicious year for Sandalwood,'' he said. Basanth Kumar Patil has also expressed happiness.

When contacted, Dr K Puttaswamy, the author of 'Cinema Yaana' said that the award brought him immense joy.
