BANGALORE: A group of more than 100 people were seen participating and raising their hands enthusiastically at the fire safety quiz held at city-based shopping mall on Saturday.
The quiz was conducted by members of Beyond Carlton (a citizen's initiative for fire safety) to commemorate the 5th month anniversary of Carlton Towers fire tragedy.
The event was aiming at raising awareness on fire safety among the public.
Along with the volunteers, family members of those deceased during the Carlton incident were also present at the event. Besides this, photos of public buildings violating the fire safety requirements across the city were also displayed.
Nitin Dubey, a victim of the Carlton incident and member of Beyond Carlton said, "We conduct various events on the 23rd of every month and have been conducting such event for the past five months."
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, he added, "It has been five months now and those injured are still to get the compensation as promised by the Chief Minister. On June 23 we also conducted a silent protest meet and also submitted a memorandum but nothing has been done."
