An entertaining love story

Gubbi is a perfect blend of a love story and underworld activities. Vijay, who makes debut as a director, has handled the megaphone well for this film that showcases the other side of Bangalore city.

It is about Gautham (Ajith) who is desperate to meet his childhood friend Sahana. He happens to see Ramya (Reema Vora), a college student.  He helps Ramya's ailing father to get admitted to a hospital. Ramya appreciates Gautham for helping her father.

Meanwhile, Gautham comes to know that Ramya is her childhood friend Sahana he was searching for. He goes to Majestic bus-stand where he finds Sahana helping her father to board a bus to their native place. He meets her but Naidu (Bobby), who is chasing another rowdy, happens to injure Sahana. Gautham and his friends want to take a revenge on Naidu.

They avail help from Gowda (Ranayana Raghu), who sells cinema tickets in black to earn money to realise his childhood dream of becoming a cinema actor, to gain entry into the Central Jail where Naidu was put up. They succeed in their mission and Sahana also recovers from injuries.

Pre-intermission session is far more pleasing than the post-intermission. Had the director taken a little bit care to ensure the screenplay crisp during the second half, the film might have been a good one.

Ajith, who made debut as hero with Patre Loves Padma, has acted well. Reema Vora has also acted well. Rangayana Raghu has provided good support. His dialogue delivery with Mandya diction is superb.

Item girl Rachana Mourya sets the silver screen on fire with her dancing skills. Tamil actor Bobby is convincing as a villain. It is worth watching.
