BANGALORE: After Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), it is the turn of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) to be in news for the wrong reasons.
After a public spat between the VC and syndicate members of the university, RGUHS once again is the news for alleged leak of medical and dental postgraduate entrance test (PGCET) answer scripts.
On Friday, the university postponed the PGCET results for an indefinite period following reports that some candidates were found writing the exam sitting in car. The exam was originally conducted on January 30.
Medical Education Minister S A Ramdas said the university will announce the PGCET results only after an investigation.
"Some students allegedly took the test in a car. Officials have seized the OMR sheets. It seems these candidates took the answer scripts from the strong room and wrote exam. Prima facie it looks like a mal practise. So we decided to postpone the results indefinitely to ensure transparency," Ramdas said.
"A threemember committee, consisting of S S Hiremath, director of Government Dental College and Research Institute, C L Gurudatt, Mysore Medical College, and A R Raghupath of Bangalore Medical College, has been formed to look into the issue. The committee is directed to submit the report within ten days," he said.
But contrary to the medical education minister's statement, RGUHS Registrar (evaluation) Dr G S Venkatesh said the university will release the key answers on Saturday and will announce the final results on February 21 as per the schedule.
