

“It’s because of God’s grace and the blessings of the elders. I hope he (K V Kamath) will succeed in his new venture as Infosys chief” said C Vijayalakshmi Pai, K V Kamath’s proud mother-in-law.
Kamath is married to Rajalakshmi Pai, the eldest daughter of Chandrashekara Pai and Vijayakalshmi Pai who reside in Chowdikad Estate, Kodagarhally, Somwarpet taluk.
“Kamath is a person full of dedication and hard work. We are proud of him and he is very down to earth. His commitment brought him to this level,” said C Harishchandra Pai, Kamath’s brother-in-law.
C Subhashchandra Pai, Kamath’s other brother-in-law said he will take this as a challenge and he too will repeat his brother-in-law’s success. “He strived hard for the success of ICICI Bank and he made it a leading bank in India,” he added.
Once a year Kamath visits Kodagu and he never disappoints anyone who wants to meet him. Speaking to Express over the phone from Mumbai, Kamath said, “I am delighted to take up the new role. At present Infosys needs no change, as it already has a good team of professionals.” The couple has two children and two grandchildren. Daughter Ajna is married to Dr Rakesh Pai settled in the USA with three children, and son Dr Ajay Kamath is married to Sangeetha and they are settled in Mumbai.
P K Jagadeesh, a resident of Kodagarahally said, “It’s a great day for us, as the son-in-law of the village made us proud.”
Kambibane GP and Kodagu Dental Association president Dr Shashikanth Rai said Infosys will have a good future in the hands of Kamath. Jumping from one sector (banking) to another (software) is a challenging one, he added.
