

Kalavarshini 20111’, the intra-school cultural extravaganza of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Chetpet, was held on November 1 and 2 at Kamarajar Arangam. The event, which had the tagline ‘Success lies in Harmony’, saw the participation of students from Classes 6 to 12.
On day 1, students from Classes 6 to 8 showcased their talents in various on-stage events like ‘Wealth from Waste’, group singing, property dance and fusion dance. Students of Classes 9 and 10 presented some stunning folk dance performances, a fashion parade and an interesting instrumental contest. The off-stage competitions included vegetable carving and rangoli with flowers. Television artist Vishnu presided over the events on day 1.
Day 2 witnessed the CBSE students of Class 11 and 12 keeping the audience and judges entertained to the hilt with events like adzap, bandwars, group dance and a quiz show. ‘PS-III FIFA’ and tattoo designing, were the off-stage competitions. The chief guest for the morning session T A Bramendra Barathi, vice president, Wheels India, congratulated the students on their talent.
The afternoon session included a slew of on-stage events like ‘Folk Folic’, ‘Karaoke Carol’ and ‘Western Folic’ and off-stage events including ‘Fog Light Portrayal’ and ‘Pot Portrayal’, which added to the grandeur. The chief guest, television artist Vadivukkarasi praised the school for hosting the show. In the prize distribution ceremony that followed, the winners of various events received their awards including Niranjana of Class 10 who received a cash prize of Rs 1,000 for acing the logo designing contest held earlier.
