Have you ever come across actor Abhijith? If not so, take a flashback and think of the late Dr Vishnuvardhan’s box-office hit Yajamana. Abhijit is now playing the role of one of Vishnuvardhan’s brothers.
After playing many roles of a supporting character, Abhijit had finally made his debut as a hero with the film Samarasimha Nayaka in 2005. His wife Rohini was the producer while Lingaraj Kaggal handled the megaphone and Rashmi Kulkarni was the heroine. However, the film failed to keep the cash registers ringing.
Now after a gap of over six years, Abhijit still does not want to give up. He is set to try his luck not only as a hero but also as the lead actor’s father. “I am playing a double role — of a father and son — for the first time in my career. Playing a double role is quite interesting,” says Abhijit with a smile.
Another feather in Vishnu’s cap is actress Poonam’s re-entry into Sandalwood. Poonam had acted as the heroine in Sudeep’s film Vaali, that was released more than a decade ago. “Poonam plays the role of a mother in the movie. She has acted well and I hope the audience will appreciate her acting skills,” informs Abhijith.
According to him, the film has all the ingredients for a hit - love, sentiments, comedy and action. All of these are necessary factors for entertaining the audience for two-and-half hours.
Were there any memorable moments that you would like to tell us while you were shooting for Vishnu? “Yeah, I can consider the accident incident as a memorable one. I got injured during a stunt sequence shoot. Ashish Vidyarthi has advised me not to embark on such acts in future since I have to take care of my family as well,” recalls Abhijith.
The film’s shooting was held in and around Bangalore, Mysore, Nandi Hills and Golconda.
Abhijith is bullish about the success of Vishnu and plans to release this film on November 25 or December 2. “My joys knew no bounds when the Regional Censor Officer had asked me about my age. He said that he was thrilled to see me with much more energy on the silver screen,” signs off Abhijith.
