Permission denied for La Tomatina

City Police have denied permission for the Bangalore version of the Spanish festival, to be held at Palace Grounds.

BANGALORE: Following objections from various sections of the society, the city police have denied permission to the Tomato Squash festival, organised by Dot organisation. The event planned on the lines of La Tomatina festival held in Spain, was slated to be held at Palace Grounds on Saturday.

Chief Minister DV Sadananda Gowda reportedly directed the city police to not issue permission for the event. In the event that was to be held today between 12 pm and 9 pm  people were to hurl tomatoes at each other. A press release from the police commissioner urged the public not to take part in the event, which was not our culture.

Meanwhile, police have also denied permission to La Tomatina, a similar event, organised by  another organistaion, Passionate Professionals, which was to be held at Prince’s Academy in Palace Grounds on Sunday between 11 am and 6 pm.
