Hennessy artistry is back with a bang

After two successful seasons in Bangalore,  Hennessy, returns with the Winter 2011 edition of the Hennessy artistry Club Series. The evening will see a unique confluence of sounds over a Sundown session with the Bhavishyavani Sound Crew and will continue with Delhi based Taru Dalmia aka Delhi Sultanate and Ska-vengers at the Sutra Lounge, The Lalit Ashok from 7 pm to 11 pm on Sunday, October 23. This October, clubbers in Bangalore will witness yet another electrifying evening.

While Taru Dalmia will set the mood right with his groovy hip hop and reggae tunes, India’s first ska or rocksteady band Ska-vengers will play avant-garde agitprop dance music. Representing ‘The Global Art of Mixing’, Hennessy artistry blends the best in Music, Bars and Long-Drinks to create an unforgettable experience.

Ska Vengers wanted to put out the type of music that was energetic and that would hopefully make people want to dance. What usually goes on at heavy rock gigs doesn’t even feature in the same book called dance. As a band,  they wanted to produce music that wasn’t too gender specific and since there didn’t seem to be a wealth of dance oriented live bands in India, they decided to address this situation with something fun to play and which by far is heavily reliant on a strong rhythm section. Their music is not evangelistic, although they do pay homage to the original ska, by throwing in a Prince Buster cover and some Skatalite style horn riffing.

There have been many musical styles that have formed since the advent of ska; many merge into the music of Ska Vengers. They have what they like to think is their own unique take in addressing social and political concerns that affect Indians and others on a wider scale and sometimes enter into noirish film soundtracks and avant-garde territory. At all times they have never lost sight of the two and the four or the downbeat chord even when they are not actually played. This October in Bangalore, Ska Vengers are bringing together their bag of ‘Ska’prises for Hennessy Artistry India. The question is where will you be when this is going down? Bhavishyavani Future Soundz was formed in the mid 90’s by like minded people when it was not possible to listen to DJ mixes online; and clubs were playing exclusively Bollywood and Retro.Trips abroad, raves, imported mix tapes, drum n bass and newly discovered Asian underground sounds brought few party people and creative minds such Mr Tee, Mukul, Insat, Kini, Masta Justy to start the Bhavishyavani crew and events. First parties in dodgy bars managed by wannabe mafia goons, followed by neon light gandhian glasses parties and multiple events in Bombay’s hippest and shadiest venues.More than just gigs, parties are considered multimedia events, with not just Djs, but visual artists, graphic designers, filmmakers and sound engineers forming a part of this collective.Although a Future Soundz event is a contemporary urban clubbing experience in its conception, the aesthetic is very locally rooted.Over the years the gigs have come to have a cult following with the young Mumbai crowd as well as similar collectives all over the world. They put events together in the UK, France, Hong Kong and Dubai inviting various international artistes. At the beginning of the 21st century, the collective was joined by a crew of French refugees in Bombay: Charlee, MMAT and Loopkin. Week after week, the collective brings to Bombay party people and electronic music addicts, their dose of beats and synthetizers be it house, techno, break beat, video installation, etc. The collective has also brought on various international DJ tours to India such as Laurent Garnier and Chloe to name a few. DJing all across India and Asia, Bhavishyavani Future Soundz has only one motto: Better than tomorrow’s party. Now in its third season in India, Hennessy artistry promises yet again to offer an innovative musical platform that will unite the best musical talents in the International & Indian circuit — on one stage, giving fans a once in a lifetime experience. Enlightening the taste buds,

Hennessy artistry is a guide to how people drink Hennessy VS around the globe - with a mix of the classic and the contemporary. One can enjoy Hennessy with water or soda, over ice or with a splash of ginger-ale, orange juice or apple juice.

The result is a pure unification of rhythm and taste; the coming together of alternative urban cultures and the versatility of Hennessy VS. Fans will be able to view videos and photos of the events on the official Hennessy Artistry India blog: mixing.hennessyartistry.in
