‘Sarayu’ for working women

The University Women’s Association, Bangalore (UWAB), an association of women graduates, inaugurated its second women’s hostel, Sarayu, in New Tippasandra.

 “Over one-third of the construction cost for the hostel has been funded by Women and Child Welfare Development department.

 Sarayu has can accommodate 100 women and focuses to provide safe and comfortable place for women from rural areas,” said Geeta Jaisim, president of UWAB.

 “Women have to stand for other women and their empowerment.

 UWAB aims to do just that,” said Geeta.

 Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Chairman of BIOCON Ltd said, “Women in India are entering the economic mainstream .

 However, they need a safe living place.

 While Bangalore offers a brilliant working condition, Sarayu offers an amazing living environment.

” “In India, opportunities for women are enormous.

 It is necessary to maintain an equity between men and women in all spheres.

 I invite every woman to go ahead and grab those opportunities,” she added.
