Are you feeling weak and tired? Are you suffering from headache, backache, diarrhoea and loss of appetite? Rush to the nearby hospital soon and consult a doctor. For, these could be the symptoms of typhoid.
This season take extra care while eating your food and drinking water. Make sure that your water is not contaminated. In fact, a study says that at about 3 to 5 per cent of patients become carriers of the bacteria after suffering from the acute illness.
Patients initially suffer from a mild illness which is usually unrecognised or even neglected sometimes. This gradually leads to patients being long-term carriers of the bacteria. Doctors believe that the temperature of the patient rises and remains high for about 10 to 14 days. During this period, the patient develops skin eruptions and usually the tongue feels coated. The body temperature rises in the evening and drops in the morning and continues till the end of the fourth week.
Few causes of typhoid fever: There are great chances of a person suffering from typhoid if he consumes food or beverages that are handled by a person who is carrying the bacteria. There are also chances of a person being a victim of typhoid if he drinks water contaminated with bacteria. Typhoid can only spread in environments where human faeces or urine are able to come into contact with food or drinking water. Prevention is always better than cure. In order to prevent typhoid, drink two glasses of boiled milk mixed with Psyllium seeds which helps in the smooth passage of stool. Drink lots of tender coconut water everyday as it helps in enriching the nutrient content of our body. Avoid junk food at all cost. Also, try avoiding spicy food. If a patient is already a victim of typhoid then ensure that he or she gets a lot of rest as your body needs to recover.
They must be kept on a liquid diet. Orange, barley juice and milk should be consumed. This not only circulates energy in the body but also hastens the recovery process, and promotes body immunity and increases the urinary output.
Doctors suggest that patients must preferably drink boiled or filtered water only. Also, consume hot food.
