Whoever said that braids were a thing of the past have definitely not done their research. Earlier sported by our mothers and aunts with cotton sarees, braids this season have undergone a transformation and are here to stay.
The side plait or fish plait are definitely hot this winter, says actress Shruti Hariharan. “As far as I know, braids are popular among the film stars because they are comfortable, easy to maintain and don’t get too messy,” said Shruti, who personally likes to plait her hair.
“I have plaited my hair in fish style for my film, Lucia,” she added.
Plaits are often seen on the ramps too as this school girl trend is coming back with many Bollywood hotties like Deepika Padukone, Dia Mirza, Priyanka Chopra, Bipasha Basu, Kalki Koechlin, Chitrangda Singh, Malaika Arora Khan sporting the hairstyle. French braids, classic side braids - right or left are in vogue and the new look has more or less become a style statement for many celebrities.
Accessories like a simple colourful bow at the end of the hair braid, a flower behind the ear, a big clip will give that classic look. A messy braid looks good with jeans and T-shirt. You can also wear metallic beads in your plait for the classy look.
You can also make a nice puff with your front hair and then make a side plait with the rest of your hair, this makes your face look thinner. If you are teaming the hairstyle with an ethnic dress, go for a neat look and wear statement earrings to look extra stylish.
