The High Court on Friday directed the state government to formulate a model bylaw applicable to the entire state.

This will be used to grant licence to hoardings in private and public places.

Justice Ram Mohan Reddy passed the order while hearing a petition filed by Ajay Advertisements, an advertising firm.

The petitioner alleged that Devanahalli Gram Panchayat had not issued any notification for tender to put up hoardings near Bangalore International Airport in Devanahalli, but had granted permission to other advertising agencies and had violated the tender process Justice Reddy directed the government to formulate a model bylaw under Karnataka Panchayat Raj Act, which would be applicable to the entire state.

This would prevent illegal hoardings, the court said.

Further, the court directed to submit details of the process to issue licences.
