Supporting the bandh against the release of Cauvery water to TN, Kannada actors protested outside the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) office at Shivananda Circle in the city.

Later, a delegation of actors led by Ambareesh and Shivarajkumar came to the Raj Bhavan in a bus, called on Governor H R Bhardwaj and submitted a memorandum seeking his intervention on the issue. “If we had excess water, we would not mind sharing it with our neighbouring states. But when they know we do not have water to spare, how can they even demand?” Ambareesh questioned.

Upendra said, “We will not share water when we are facing problems here. TN wants water for agricultural purposes, but we do not have enough water for drinking.”

“Let us ask our elected leaders to deal with the matter sensibly by stopping their cars. We should demand answers from them, instead of troubling innocent people,” he added.

Both the cinema and TV industries stopped work on Saturday.
