A man killed his 20-year-old wife inside the mango orchard at Gundur near Mandur on Friday evening after her family refused him dowry. The victim has been identified as Munilakshmi, a resident of Bommenahalli, was married to Nandeesh, a car driver 10 months ago.
According to the police, the incident took place at 4 pm and Nandeesh took her inside a mango orchard. He tried to destroy the evidence by setting her body on fire.
The incident came to light by evening when her cousin came and found her missing. Nandeesh was harassing her over dowry for a few months and had sent her to her native place a couple of times.
When her parents did not oblige his demand he killed her to take revenge against her family, the police said.
Man Falls to Death
A 50-year-old man, who was in an inebriated state, died when he accidentally fell down from the third floor of his relative’s house at Cottonpet on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Sivaswami, a native of Shivakasi in Tamil Nadu, who had come to the city for a family function.
According to the police, the incident took place at 9 pm when the family and friends were having a party and were drinking on the third floor.
Elephant Tramples Man
A 25-year-old man was trampled by a wild elephant at Anepalya near Kengeri in Talaghattapura police station limits on Friday night.
The deceased has been identified as Shivaraju, a resident of Aneplaya, a daily wage worker.
According to the police, the incident took place at 9.30 pm when he had gone to answer the nature’s call.
He died on the spot. The locals rushed to the spot and chased away the elephant.
