V K Gokak award presented to Gurulinga Kapse

 Prof V K Gokak Award was presented to well-known Kannada writer and former President of Karnataka Sahitya Academy Gurulinga Kapase in the city on Sunday.

 The award, conferred on him in recognition of service to the Kannada literature, carried a purse of `10,000 and a citation.

 Speaking on the occasion, Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, BWSSB and Urban Development S Suresh Kumar said the Department of Kannada and Culture should bring out Prof Gokak’s epic Sindhu Rashmi’, which runs into 35,000 lines in ‘Gamaka’ form.

 Chairman of Kuvempu Bhasha Bharathi Pradhan Gurudatt was among those present.

 ‘Bharat Sindhu Rashmi Ondu Vivechane’, a collection of essays in Kannada and English on Jnanapith award winning poet Dr V K Gokak’s epic titled ‘Bharat Sindhu Rashmi’ edited by writers Anil Gokak and Yashoda Bhatt, was released on the occasion.

 Later, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the programme, Suresh Kumar said,”Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s platinum jubilee celebrations and the 125th birth anniversary of its founder Dr K M Munshi is around the corner.

 Discussions are going on at the governmentlevel to make this event grand.

 We are planning to invite the Chief Justice of India, apart from organising a seminar a relevant issue relating to judiciary.
