Arushi goes to Haveli

Renowned Odissi dancer, Arushi Mudgal will be performing at the Haveli music event to be held in Bangalore on April 26. “This is a first-of-its-kind experience for me to be part of such a conceptualised event,” she said.

Born in a family which always believed in music and dance, Arushi started learning dance at the age of five. “As a child, I was attracted to music, while watching my aunt, Madhavi Mudgal dancing and it inspired me to be a dancer,” revealed Arushi.

Though busy touring the US right now, Arushi told us about her initial feelings towards the event, organised by Hometown productions. “When they approached me to be part of this event, I was skeptical, but the kind of productions that Hometown has presented so far, convinced me to be part of Haveli,” she said.

Having toured extensively in India and overseas, she is clear on what the audience can expect of her performance in Haveli. She says, “The Odissi dance form or any other dance form is not new to Bangalore. The audience in Bangalore know what to expect. And every time I perform in Bangalore, it is always something I look forward to.”

According to her, Haveli will become a platform for artistes coming from different parts of India to share their ideas and opinion with other musicians. She states, “I am thrilled to be amongst such eminent artistes. I have already shared my views and opinion with regard to the concept with the music conductor, Deepak Pandit and with Aravind Ramanna.”

On her future projects in India and overseas, Arushi says, “Though I am busy touring US, India is always part of my life where I would love to spread the Odissi art form.”
