Of good and bad memories

Bad memories bring out demons in you, but good memories give one the urge to live life full-size. Here protagonist and antagonist are slaves to their memories.

They come out of their trauma, one sacrifices his life for his memories and the other embraces new-found memories.

Prithviraj is at his mercurial best in Memories directed by Jithu Joseph. He gives everything to this movie--- life, pace and flexible acting that covers the flaws of the script.  As Sam Alex, he performs with the ease of a veteran who never allows the character to go out of hand.

For Alex, who lost his wife and daughter to a terrorist’s gun, life is an aimless journey. He chooses alcohol as a way of life, spends most of the time in bars and wine shops and lives in the past.

A call from his godfather and superior officer Aravindaksha Menon (Vijayaraghavan) for an investigation does not enthuse him.  But he finally takes up the job of tracking the serial killer under strict conditions and eventually realises the terrifying link between him self and the suspect that seem to be based on Biblical prophecies.

Jithu Joseph tries his hand in a new genre of movies after back-to-back comedies.

Sujith Vasudev has come with some exemplary camera shots. Generally, thriller movies focus on plot over characters. But defying all norms, Prithviraj alone takes the entire movie on his shoulders and indeed it is his one of the most riveting performances.

Verdict: Don’t go for the crime thriller tag, tuck it for Prithvi

Cast: Prithviraj, Vijayaraghavan, Nedumudi Venu, Mia George

Director: Jithu Joseph
