Ten students from Seoul Digitech High School, South Korea got a chance to understand the rich culture of South India and experience the working of different industries here. Their trip was part of a recently-concluded three month programme organised by the Government of Korea and the Korea Research Institute for Vocational Education and Training. The Korean students spent significant time understanding the Indian education system and also explored job prospects in the IT sector.
They reached Bangalore on September 1 and spent 4 weeks at the CMR IMS campus at HRBR Layout and later interned at Larsen & Toubro Infotech.
The programme was organised as a part of an initiative aimed at fostering and strengthening ties between the nations. "Going forward, there will be more such programmes. For instance, we will be sending Indian students to study in South Korean colleges and universities and tab locally available jobs. At present, there are 6,000-7,000 IT professionals from India working in various cities of South Korea. This number will go up in the coming years,” said You Sunghoon, CEO, KS India.
The students received hands on experience about an Indian college through their time at CMR IMS. Speaking of the same, K C Ramamurthy, Chairman, CMR Group of Institutions said, "They had many opportunities to speak to the students and lecturers at CMR, thereby understanding the functioning of an Indian educational institution. It was a privilege having them here." Apart from education, the programme also exposed the students to various aspects of Indian art and culture like food, fashion, music and dance.
Park Min Sun, one of the students said that visiting India was an eye-opener for her. She added, “This is such a beautiful country. The culture is so vibrant. We visited several places across the country. Given a chance, I would like to pick a job in India and settle down here."
