Swamiji has made you prasadam today and burnt your past karma (negative deeds) and now it is up to you to follow the path recommended by him.
In the olden days, a yagnashala (place for sacrificial fire ceremonies) would be very similar to the place we are at now.
Such places radiate positive energy.
This place is open and is a natural environment (it was in fact a shed without many walls) and if you sleep on the ground here, you will live a long life.
Elsewhere (pointing to a closed place) you will live a shorter life.
If you say once that I am fed up of my life, then to counter that negative energy, you need to chant ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ a 1000 times.
If you say that I have had enough and please take my life away, then you need to write ‘Om Namah Shivaya’ 1008 times.
When you grow older, you contract disease and then you pray to God to cure you.
At that time God will ask you: “You only asked me to take this body away, so now why are you asking for a cure?” Do not therefore employ this kind of language.
You should live with confidence and face all difficulties with equanimity.
Do not be pleased with what you acquired yesterday or what you received today.
Do not be carried away by what you will receive tomorrow because such attachments will lead to disappointment and sadness.
Be detached from what you have and will acquire or achieve yesterday, today and tomorrow.
If you keep thinking of the past, present and future, the fear of losing what you have acquired or received so far or what you may not receive in the future will only bring you feelings of deprivation.
Be content with what you have because that is God and that is the ultimate truth.
If we keep on harping about the past, it is likely to bring us nothing but worry.
The same applies to thinking about past, present and future accomplishments: that is another route to the same anxiety.
You will worry thinking whether what you received yesterday will continue to be with you for all time? You will worry about losing what you received yesterday.
You will worry about the hundred rupees which you received yesterday and which is not there with you now.
You will worry thinking whether you will retain what you have today.
You will worry about what you are going to receive tomorrow.
So when you think of what happened yesterday, today and tomorrow, it can only give you worry.
Who is responsible for all these outcomes? The answer is God.
So if you get hold of God, you will always have happiness and contentment.
So firmly hold on to God and then you will only have happiness in life.
There is an important event tomorrow.
It was all of a sudden that God gave this message.
Tomorrow morning in our gramam (village), a maha karyam (great event) will take place.
All of you need to attend and participate in that event.
All of you should participate in worship and prayers.
That is enough.
Tomorrow there is a sarva vighna nivarana homam (sacrificial ceremony to remove all obstacles).
It will start at 7 a.m. and will be over by around 10 a.m.
So please participate in the homam along with your family.
The homam will be followed by sarva aishwarya pooja (for universal prosperity).
It will be done by reciting the mantra 1008 times.
This is performed to seek blessings of Amma (the Divine Mother); it will give you strength and remove your obstacles.
