Construction material blocks footpath

Construction material blocks footpath

If the thought of using the footpaths in the city is challenging, your belief would be reinstated by walking down the stretch on Nagappa Road which runs parallel to the BDA park opposite Sheshadripuram College.

Kumara Park resident, Chetan says, “I see pedestrians struggling to use the footpath owing to the lack of civic sense and reckless driving by motorists. And now to make matters worse, the authorities have stacked tiles blocking the footpath. Where is one supposed to walk? I don’t see the point in dumping construction material on the road or footpath. They rather finish the work at the earliest to prevent any casualities.”

Another resident said that the footpath is too narrow and young school students in the area are in danger of being run over by vehicles on this busy road. “At some points, the footpath is just an extension to the road. It is pretty dangerous to use footpath on this road especially during the evenings when the traffic is at it’s peak. Hence, I prefer taking the cross roads even if takes me longer to reach my destination,” says Sridevi, who uses regularly uses this road to reach her workplace.

Initially, the residents and college goers complained of the footpath slabs on Seshadripuram First Main Road was removed and the debris which was dumped on one side of the busy road. Pedestrians complained that they either have to skip over the slabs or walk on the main road.

Now the dumping of the tiles and construction material on the parallel road has added to the agony of the already hassled pedestrians and residents.
