Kamal Hassan starrer Tamil film Vishwaroopam has garnered lot of attention and getting good reviews since it was released two days ago, the film’s sole distributor for the State H D Gangaraju claimed.

“The film is being shown in theatres without any cuts through satellite screening. There is no problem. We have, however, given a letter to police for protection and they continue to support us,” he stated.

Acor and director Ramesh Aravind, who watched the film along with Kamal  Hassan before its release, said, “Knowing the contents of the film, I don’t see any reason for the film to be banned. I don’t know the legal aspects and the reason why it is occurring to such a good film.”

“I am saddened by Kamal’s reaction and expression about leaving Tamil Nadu or the country,” he felt.

“Kamal, as I know, is extremely neutral. If he has to lean, he will tilt towards art and not left or right. He is an artiste. As a filmmaker, financial part is cumbersome. He trusted his passion and has put in all his money.

“It is a different issue if the film is not liked by audience, but it is absolutely not right when the audience don’t get a chance to see  it. Let them at least certify it. They can even restrict the age limit. But they should not ban the creativity and definitely not a calibre artiste like Kamal Hassan’s,” Ramesh observed.

Director Nagathihalli Chandrashekar, who is yet to watch the film, said, “When the film is clearly passed by the Censor Board, it becomes eligible for public viewing. It is unfortunate that this is happening under Jayalalithaa’s government who herself was a popular actress.”

“In a country like India which is full of caste and creed, how can a filmmaker stay away from mentioning about religion? We can’t just say A loved B. Kamal Hassan should not lose his will power. We are with him. In fact,  the entire country supports his creativity,” Nagathihalli said.
