A formal leather belt

A suit or even a trouser must never be worn without a belt. Yes, even if your trouser fits you perfectly, a belt will only make it look better. A formal belt can be worn with any type of trousers to give you a clean, sharp look. Make sure that you match the colour of your belt to the colour of your leather boots. Spending on a formal leather belt is something you won’t regret.

A dark tie

Your tie should be simple and neutral enough to go with all your suits, jumpers and shirts. Solid colours like navy, grey or black are ideal. If you can, opt for a silk tie to add some sophistication to an otherwise simple outfit.

A sports jacket

What happens when you want to dress things up a bit without pulling out your suit or losing that relaxed vibe you were going for? The sports jacket comes in handy here.  The colours you choose must complement your shirt and trousers as well as the occasion. Neutral colours like beige, navy, camel and black go with almost anything. Remember, a sports jacket must compliment your look, so don’t try matching it with other clothes.

A navy blazer

Spending on a quality blazer is better than buying an average suit. Make sure you buy one in dark fabric. This can be worn for formal events as well. This navy blue blazer can be thrown over anything to instantly smarten up your look.

A light crew neck T-shirt

A light coloured crew neck T-shirt works great as a layering piece, because light colours such as white or grey can be paired with any other colour. This T-shirt looks best when paired with dark jeans and sneakers.

Slim neutral chinos

When wearing Chinos, the same rules as wearing denims apply. Go for something in beige, camel or olive for maximum versatility but grey or brown will work just as well. Make sure they are of the traditional formal variety rather than the denim wash versions that are out right now.

A medium grey suit

If there’s one thing you should spend some money on to stylise your wardrobe, it should be a grey suit. A medium grey suit is versatile — you could also choose to wear the jacket and the trousers separately.

Brogue shoes/sneakers

Investing in a good pair of shoes is never a waste. So make sure you have the right ones for each occasion. A pair of brogue shoes for the formal look is a must, maybe a pair of black oxford lace up ones. Sneakers are the best casual wear — for sports, running or while simply hanging out with your buddies.
