In Kengeri,  an armed robbery attempt was foiled last year by an alert financial firm manager who was prompt enough to press the ‘siren button’ which was installed under his table. Despite this episode, the crime rate in Kengeri and Jnana Bharati jurisdictional limits has been on a rise as people are yet to take such precautionary measures.

Keeping this in mind, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), DC Rajappa has urged people in the jurisdictional limits of Kengeri and Jnana Bharati to install the anti-burglary siren as a precautionary measure.

Currently 300 residences in the area have agreed to install the siren. Speaking to City Express on the initiative D C Rajappa said, “We have requested people living in lonely outskirts to install the anti-burglary siren if possible. It is helpful for people who reside alone or for senior citizens or when people go out of station. If the siren is installed in the door and someone tries to intrude in your house the siren will ring very loudly, which could be heard till 1 km. Listening to the siren the neighbourhood will call the police and this way their safety will be ensured.”

Nayak, a resident who has already installed the siren said, “I have witnessed the benefits of installing such a siren, so I went to the Kengeri police station with the idea.”DC Rajappa added, “This is not a compulsion but just a suggestion that people can follow and will be helpful for them to avert or apprehend danger. We often suggest such precautionary measures during neighbourhood meeting or beat exercises.”

Each siren will cost from `1000-`1500. As per individual requirements, people can purchase them and install on their windows and doors.

No doubt, in a world prone to thefts and burglaries, anti-burglary siren is the only option left to keep yourselves safe from all types of threats.
