Adjudged as the Man of the Series in the inter-collegiate cricket tournament Stalin Hoover is all set for bigger laurels. This all round player is more of a batsman and his utility to the team is more with the bat than the ball. He roared for Belgavi Tigers during the now-stalled Karnataka Premier League T20 tournaments and he hardly worked up a sweat to tame opposition bowlers in the Vyooha T20 collegiate tournament as he guided Surana College to victory.
A right hand top-order batsman, right-arm fast bowler who can also don the gloves with efficiency, no team could possibly ask for more with Stalin in their line-up.
“I started playing at the age of 12 at a Sports Authority of India summer camp. My performances in college cricket and in the local league earned me a call-up for the Karnataka under-15 team and since then, I have been determined to do better and better,” said Stalin.
The one to go slam bang when needed, cautious aggression is Stalin’s watch word. That has seen him reap rich dividends as he can be relied upon to stay at the wicket in a crisis as well. Stalin is endowed with an array of strokes and isn’t afraid to use his feet either to attack the bowling.
This I year arts student of Surana College represented his college and ran up big scores often. Turning out for the Friends Union Cricket Club and Bangalore Cricketers in the first division, Stalin was selected for the Karnataka under-19 team in 2007-08 and represented Bangalore University this year.
Stalin also has the experience of turning out in the Safi Darashah and the MRF Diamond Jubilee tournaments which has made him sharpen up his skills. Stalin’s highest score is his blazing knock of 163 in a 30-over Giants Cup match at the HMT grounds. He also has four centuries in first division league for FUCC with 108 as the highest. The impact of his game can be gauged from the fact that he scored 380 runs in six innings and captured 17 wickets for FUCC in the 2013 season during which he kept wickets for them as well.
Stalin put up an all-round performance in the inter-university tournament in Manipal during December 2012. The manner in which he has been playing, bigger representation is bound to come his way sooner than later.
