SWR Bangalore profit increases by 12 percent

Recording an overall earning of Rs 1,197.74 crore in 2012-13, Bangalore Division of the South Western Railways (SWR) has registered an increase of 12 per cent over the previous year and has generated a revenue of over Rs 1,000 crore for the third consecutive year. With `905.12 crore the passenger earnings of the division has increased by 13 per cent, sundry earnings rose by 72 per cent and the ticket checking earnings rose by 17 per cent.

With 97.88 per cent of the trains reaching their destinations on time, the division has achieved the best overall punctuality.

The division has introduced 3,388 special trains during the last financial year, which is the highest number of special trains to be introduced by any division.
