Bangalore students secured the top ranks in medical, engineering and Indian Systems of Medicine in the Common Entrance Test 2013 results announced on Tuesday, and will now be among those eligible for fee reimbursement.

R V Deshpande, who announced the results, said, “If the top five rank holders in medical and engineering CET results choose a college from Karnataka for their professional courses, the state government will reimburse the entire fee. This is to reward the students’ hard work and also to encourage candidates to excel in the entrance test.”
The first rank in medical and ISM&H was bagged by National Public School Class XII student Hemanth Amardeep Santhoor, while the second and third places were secured by Medha Narayana Rao from Expert Pre-University College, Mangalore, and Vivek B Maleyur from Vidyaashram PU College, Mysore, respectively.
Meanwhile, the top three ranks in engineering were bagged by Bangalore students from Vidya Vardhaka Sangha Sardar Patel PU College with a small margin separating them. Prajwal K A secured the first rank, Sucheth S Kuncham second and Manu S H the third rank respectively.
As many as 1,37,560 candidates had appeared for the test across the state at 288 centres conducted by the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA).
After the generation of merit list for different courses, 38,623 candidates were eligible for admission to medical and dental courses, 68,943 for Indian System of Medicine and Homeopathy courses, 91,808 for engineering courses and 816 candidates for architecture courses.
This year, CET scores will also count for admissions to courses like BSc Agriculture, Veterinary Sciences and Food Technology. As many as 74,737 candidates are eligible for Agriculture, 72,394 for Veterinary, 73,316 for Food Technology and 1,00,498 for agritech courses. More: P2
