Techies surprise with vocal talent

As the crowds cheered, the participants nervously awaited their chance to wow the judges with their voices. At the recently concluded inter-city corporate solo singing competition, techies battled it out for the Ascendas Voice Ultimate Solo Singing Challenge.

Earlier Ascendas voice used to be an intra-city competition but from the latest edition on it has been made a bigger event. Top two finalists from Ascendas IT Parks in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune contested for the trophy.

Swathi B S from TATA Consultancy Services, Bangalore, took off first with a Hindi song, next was Vikram Venkatesan from Thought Works Chennai, who sang a Tamil song and won the audiences hearts by making them sing along.

The next participant, Ramesh N, surely did create an impact with his talk and song. From Hyderabad with his full white attire, sunglasses, gold jewellery, he sang a Telugu song in which he had added his own lyrics and had the audience rolling with laughter. The event proceeded with Avik Baneerjee from Synechron Technologies  Pvt. Ltd from Pune singing a Hindi song, Raghavendra N from General Motors, Bangalore, sung a Hindi song while Somnath N from Chennai sang a mix of Tamil and  Hindi songs, Kiranmoy from Hyderabad sang a Hindi song and Niharika from Pune concluded the eliminations with a Hindi song.

Somnath N from Burndy Technology and Global Business Services bagged the first place, winning an international holiday for two in Malaysia along with the trophy. Ramesh N was announced the runner-up and was presented a holiday for two to Alleppey, Kerala, along with a trophy.

For the contestants, the event made them feel like  celebrities with an audience waiting to listen to them and having people dress them up.

On their part, the organisers said the event was meant  to provide techies some free time and take up cultural activities which would help them unwind and relieve the stress of their hectic routines while also allowing them to showcase their talents.
