Adhuna Bhabani Akhtar (Bollywood star Farhan Akhtar’s wife) was recently in the city to promote her salon chain.
In a candid chat with City Express, the hair stylist revealed current hair trends, her favourite Bollywood celebrity and her love for Bangalore.
Excerpts from the interview:
New trends: For a long time, people played it safe with straight hair. Now more importance is being given to hair texture. Soft, fluffy and care free, the texture is more important than the hair cut.
Hot trend: Hair extensions are fast catching on as a hot trend in B Town. I have worn extensions myself. They are fun and make you look great.
Most memorable Bollywood projects: The film Lakshya starring Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta remains closest to my heart. Also styling for films like Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was a lot of fun.
Personal style: I would define my style as easy. I also love experimenting. I like changing my hair style all the time. The one thing I don’t like are puffs. I stay away from them.
Her style icon: I don’t really have a style icon. I like to follow my instincts and do things my way.
Biggest challenges: It was easy to become a hair stylist but taking the entrepreneurial route was a challenge. I was happy freelancing as I had no responsibilities. But I have no regrets and I am happy with the way everything is.
Up her sleeve: A lot of things are happening right now. We will be starting several projects. A salon in Dubai is also on the cards.
Her advice to young stylists : Dedication, passion and professionalism are the key resources to make it big.
Her inspiration: My team which comprises mostly youngsters keeps me going. Their enthusiasm is inspiring.
Bangalore: Over the years, I have seen Bangalore change and my love for it has only grown.
I like everything about the city, the greenery, the culture and the fact that everything here is so vibrant.
