Loving every minute

To break into the women dominated world of fashion is not an easy task for many men. But for Francis Noel Ben, who neither planned or dreamed about being in the fashion world, modelling assignments have come one after another. Currently a businessman and all of 26 years old, Francis Noel Ben has a Masters degree in International Business from the University of Essex, UK. He has been in the fashion industry for the past 5 years and has worked for Kirtilal Jewellers, Radio mango, Josco fashion mantra, River Island, Cactus  and FWD in the past.

Noel Ben says, “I enjoy modelling. I am a people-person and also enjoy networking.”

The Kerala born model who juggles between work and fashion says his most challenging assignment was a recent photo shoot for ‘O Jogo Bonito’ football promo where he had to strike various poses. “I found it more difficult than actually playing the game. It was important to get the poses right to look like a real time footballer,” he says. The model, who has been in Bangalore for the last 4 years loves the city especially during monsoons. “When it rains, it’s perfect to kick back and unwind with some hot coffee,” he says.

Some excerpts from the interview

Favourite designers: Tom Ford- they make clothes and accessories that look sharp and elegant.

On a bad hair day: I have thick curly hair so I avoid bad hair days by keeping it short. It’s comfortable that way and perfect for our climate.

Must haves in your wardrobe: A tailored suit, crisp formal shirts and trousers. A well fitted pair of jeans is an absolute must have.

Personal style: I endorse comfort and for me being comfortable is stylish. One must always remember that there is a fine line between dressing comfortable and looking sloppy. It’s always tricky to get it right.

Favourite shopping hangouts: I am not particular about any brands or shops in particular. I pick out whatever fits me well. Shops on Brigade road have good options.

Favourite accessories: I love shoes and footwear and have a pair for all occasions. I have a special love for football boots and own 6 pairs.

Fashion pet peeves: Skinny jeans and V neck T shirts for men is something that I don’t like. The plunging necklines are best left for women.
