Confused about which bus to take to commute in the city? Just log on to BMTC’s new website www.mybmtc.com to plan your trips.
The BMTC’s website was finally relaunched on Saturday after months of work. It has a number of details about bus services, contact numbers and BMTC’s achievements. The website also has a trip planner which can be used to get information on bus numbers, routes, fares and approximate duration of travel. By using Google maps or by looking up the various bus stop through which the buses will pass, the task is made easier.
The website also provides approximate timings at which the bus will depart from the place of origin.
The search can be advanced by selecting the type of service that the commuter is looking for.
Unlike the previous website, mybmtc.com is dynamic, BMTC MD Anjum Parvez said. “We have developed a software which is a complete solution for route creation. If a route is changed, it will be immediately available to the commuters,” he said.
In order to develop the website, physical visits were made to each bus stop in the city. Parvez said this is only the first version of the website.
“The second version can also be used by people who are new to Bangalore and may not know the names of the bus stops. Instead, by giving the name of the area and referring to Google maps, the bus stop can be located and the trip can be planned. This version should be ready in about 2 months,” he said.
This is not all. In a couple of months, mobile applications of the trip planner will also be available on Android and iPhones. In the meantime, the trip planner can be accessed by browsing the internet on phone.
The BMTC will be improving the website shortly. “Suggestions from commuters to improve on the website is welcome. The feedback can be put up on the website itself and we will try our best to incorporate it,” said Parvez.
