BANGALORE: Parents, who have withdrawn their wards from the Vibgyor High in Marathahalli, have complained that the school has refused to refund fees despite directions from the Department of Public Instruction.
Scores of children have been withdrawn following the rape of a six-year old girl in the school last month.
“I got a call from the person in charge of admissions and issuing leaving certificates on Tuesday. She flatly refused to refund the second quarter fees.
“She said the school management has taken the same decision and asked me to approach the court if needed,” said a parent, who was taken aback by the ‘attitude of the school’ even after the incident.
Mohammad Mohsin, Commissioner for Public Instruction, told Express that specific directions have been issued to Vibgyor High through the Bangalore South Deputy Director for Public Instruction.
“We have asked them clearly to refund the fees to parents who want to remove their children. The school had agreed. Parents can approach the DDPI with their complaints,” Mohsin said.
Bangalore South DDPI K Padmavati has already written to nine nearby schools asking them to admit the children from Vibgyor High.
