BANGALORE: When destiny beckons, even the disbelievers follow. Take the case of young Deeksha Seth who got her first breakthrough role in a Telugu film even though she had no designs on cinema. In Bangalore to promote her first Bollywood film Lekar Hum Deewana Dil, Seth spoke about destiny, opportunities and A R Rahman

"I never looked at a film career even as a remote possibility. I first got selected for a beauty pageant and then was spotted and chosen for a Telugu film. It was a sign from the universe that I should be in films and I felt fortunate," she says.

The opportunity to work in B-Town has come early for Deeksha. After doing only seven films down South, she bagged her first Hindi project. "I am not a planner. It was just that when my Telugu film was going to release, the audition for Lekar Hum.... happened and I got through. I liked the script and decided to go for it. It was not that I was desperately looking for a B-Town entry. With Hindi being my mother tongue, I could have started there only, which I didn't do. I feel that if something has to happen, it will happen," she explains.

Lekar Hum.... is the next offering from Illuminati Films and Eros International after the success of Love Aaj Kal and Cocktail. The film marks the directorial debut of Arif Ali, brother of noted director Imtiaz Ali. A R Rahman has scored the music. "It is a big opportunity. When I first met Rahman sir, I couldn't speak as I was awestruck," recalls Deeksha and adds, "A neat script and a good production house have come are bonus. The success of Lekar... will decide what kind of offers I get later. Right now, we want to get the movie out and enjoy the reaction."

In South, Deeksha has worked with established actors like Allu Arjun, Ravi Teja, Prabhas in Telugu and her debut in Tamil was with Vikram. This film, however, will see her working with a fresh talent, Armaan Jain.

"I was like a child when I was working with the big stars in South. Here Armaan and I are equals. As newcomers, we have different energies but the desire to prove ourselves is common. We push ourselves and each other constantly. Even though Armaan has a film background, he is a sweet and simple. I have a good friend in him," she says.

Lastly, Deeksha reveals her fond memories of Bangalore. "I used to live in Chennai and we would drive down to Bangalore almost every weekend. I got my first Barbie at Kemp's corner on MG Road. The biscuits available at Nilgiris remain my favourite," she signs off.
