BANGALORE: Seems like Ragini Dwivedi’s is unstoppable. The busy bee of Sandalwood currently working in five Kannada films now adds to her career, a multilingual film. Amma, the film, is all set to be launched in Bangalore. Amma is being written and directed by Faisal Saif who is already in the news for his on-going Hindi Tamil bilingual film on Superstar Rajinikanth titled Main Hoon Rajinikanth.
Amma will be made in five languages-Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam simultaneously.
“The director had planned this concept quite some time ago and while we were in conversation, he expressed that I should take up this role of Amma and that nobody will be able to carry of the character other than me. Initially I was surprised to know that I was in his mind for this particular role. But, when I heard the script I was just blown away. I realised that this will create a rage when it comes out and so accepted it,” says Ragini.
“Amma is an extremely sensitive story, but the film is extremely strong, which will be fascinating for people to watch,” admits Ragini. She further adds, “Faisal is a friend and has been a well known director and journalist up North. After much discussion, we decided that we have to do this film together. I am glad that there is so much hype about the film even before it is launched,” she reveals
Connections are being made between Jayalalithaa and Amma. “Right now I can’t tell you about the character and wouldn’t want to comment on the fact that people are comparing this film to Jayalalithaa. Probably when we start shooting and when the posters are out, people will know exactly what we are trying to talk about in the film. Of course, Jayalalithaa is also such a strong woman and I think of her as a complete person. But there are a lot of surprise elements in terms of the title Amma itself, Whether this film is about Jayalalitha will only be revealed at the muhurath of Amma,”says Ragini who also admits that a film on Jayalalithaa is itself an interesting thought.
“She says, “she is a dynamic person and somebody doing a film on her will interesting. It will be an answer to all those people who are suspecting this film.”
Ragini shares, “I love challenges. And am always game for something different. My faith in the fans is strong and I am doing this film based on the strength of my fan base. Amma is a gift from me to my fans,” she says.
She is also confident that Faisal and she will do justice to the script.
“He is sure about what he wants to do. He is completely involved and I have full faith in him.” Interestingly, Ragini will also be seen playing her own age in the film.
“It is not an art film but a commercial flick with a strong message. This film will be something refreshing for me, the director and the audiences,” she says. The makers plan to begin the film sometime in July with just the muhurath at Om Shakti Temple in Banasvadi on Friday.
