BANGALORE: Galerie De’Arts, situated in Barton Centre, MG Road, is curating Urbanscapes, an art show spread across 10,000 sq feet of exhibit space. Over 100 artists will showcase over 200 works including paintings, photographs, installations, sculptures, lithographs and serigraphs at the venues.
There will also be discussions with artists, environmental experts, economists and NGO authorities about the loss of innocence in our urban spaces and how catchwords like growth, progress and globalisation are changing our cities, impacting infrastructure, housing, pollution and waste management, natural resources and even human relationships.
As the organisers say, "This project is focused on the spectacular and complex world of the metropolis: the concrete skyscrapers and lush green vegetation; the sparkling elegance and the glaring poverty."
There will be solo shows by Clare Arni, Murali Cheeroth, Shantamani Muddaiah and Sumana Chowdhury. Also on display will be drawings, watercolours, lithographs and paintings by Sunoj D, Vibha Galhotra, Prasanta Sahu, Pradeep Kumar, Mantu Das,
Chandranath Tilak, Ernst Kersting, Tsering Negi, Gurudas Shenoy, Jasu Rawal, Rekha Rao, Pradeep Kumar, A Viswam, Nadine Tarbouriech, Barun Chowdhuri, Ravi Kumar Kash and many others.
The event is curated by Deepa Subramanian, founder and creative head, Galerie De’Arts and Franck Barthelemy, art consultant, collector and writer.
The exhibition will be on from 11 am to 9 pm till August 31 (including Sundays) at 1 MG Mall, 4th floor, opposite FoodHall. Collateral shows will also be held at Galerie De’Arts, 11th floor, Barton Centre and Rangoli Metro Art Centre.
