BANGALORE: In 2011, the hosts of the popular TV show  Highway on my plate, Rocky Singh and Mayur Sharma, launched the book by the same name. The book went on to win 'Best Celebrity Cook Book' at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2011 and 'Best in the world' at Gourmand World Cookbook Award 2012.

Emboldened by the success, the hosts have come up with the second edition of the book this year -- Highway On My Plate - II — published by Random House India.

Highway on my plate: Indian guide to roadside eating has the distinction of being the country's first guide to dhabas and roadside restaurants and the second book promises to continue this culinary trip across the length and breadth of India.

It lists great food joints in small towns and big cities, provides indispensable information like details of the restaurant, food specialties, prices, contact information and how to get there. It also offers reviews.

The 356-page book covers more than 200 new food joints and samples over 1,500 different food items.

Bangalore, Rocky confesses, is his favourite food city because "it has the greatest variety of authentic food from all over the country and the world."

Listed in the book are places like Halli Mane, an eatery in Malleswaram which has in store a great range of dosa, rice bath, bondas and north Indian lunch/dinner buffet and Shivaji Military Hotel in Jayanagar which is famous for its flavour-packed biriyanis.

The book is available for Rs 299.
