MG ROAD:Anita Nair’s creative writing programme, held in the city over 12 weeks, concluded earlier this week. The first batch of 11 writers will present their works to an audience at Rangasthala, Rangoli Metro Art Centre at 5 pm today.

Titled Anita’s Attic, the programme gave budding writers a chance to hone their skills under the guidance of the acclaimed author, who has penned books like The Better Man, Ladies Coupe and Malabar Mind.

The batch comprised people from diverse professions like journalists, engineers, filmmakers, students and even a veterinarian.

“Anita’s Attic has helped me identify my voice and capture it in a beautiful narrative,” says Swapna, who manages a structured writing company in the city and writes business releases every day.

Satya, a marketing professional, runs a humour blog and was toying with the idea of converting it into a book. “The workshop helped me bring the book to life,” he says.

About the programme, Anita says, “The objective of this exercise was to discover people with potential and nurture them into becoming fine writers. It was amazing to see such talent and diversity in this batch,” she adds.
