BENGALURU: Make a pot/plant/tea-light holder using simple knots

Things you need

• Rope (I used jute but you can use any thread..even wool and nylon). Just keep in mind that it should be strong enough to hold whatever you are going to hang.
• Scissors
• A tea light

How to

Step1

Decide how long the holder will be. Now cut a rope that is double the size of the desired length. Cut eight such pieces. You can cut more but the number of ropes should be even. Keep all the ropes together and twist one end  and fold it enough so that you have a loop large enough to hang. Then using another small piece, tie it tightly.

Step 2

Pair the nearest two strands and tie  double knots a little further down the knot you tied in step 1. These double knots should be at the same distance from the big knot.

Step 3

Take one stand from one knot and another from the nearest knot and tie a double knot . Repeat the process till you have four knots in the second layer. The distance between the step 2 knot and step 3 knot should be enough so that what it supports does not slip out.

Step 4

Keep repeating step 3 till you have reached the desired length of the hanger. Then take all the strands together and tie a knot and ensure it is really tight. Whatever you are going to place inside the hanger is going to sit on this knot so it has to be really tight and secure.

Step 5

If  you want, keep the loose strands, do tie them or else cut.
