BENGALURU: Kannada actor Yash is in the news for not paying house rent for the past four years. Based on a complaint by the landlord Muniprasad, a lower court has issued a notice to Yash and his family to appear before it on Saturday.
In his complaint with the Girinagar police, who have referred the case to the court, Muniprasad stated that he had given his 5-BHK house at Katriguppe in Banashankari III Stage to Yash and his mother Pushpa on a rent of `40,000 per month. They have been staying there since October 2010.
He alleged that after a few months Pushpa stopped paying rent, and would verbally abuse him if he asked for it.
Muniprasad claimed that the actor and his mother also violated the terms and conditions of the rent agreement by making many alterations inside the house. Yash and Pushpa owe `21.37 lakh, he stated in the complaint.
Meanwhile, Pushpa has denied Muniprasad’s allegations, saying he never approached them for rent. She alleged that for the last few months, Muniprasad has been pressing them to vacate the house.
According to her he had also agreed to the alterations being carried out inside the house, for which they have spent lakhs of rupees.
“We are ready to clear the rent through the court as per his requirement, but he also needs to pay some money as he had agreed while the alterations were being done,” she said.
It is also said that there may be personal issue behind this as earlier Yash’s family was accused of cheating people in his hometown over a chit-fund run by Pushpa.
