Kathakali Artistes to Stage Prahlada Charitham

VIMANAPURA:Sree Ayyappa Bhajana Sangham, in association with Bangalore Club for Kathakali and the Arts presents a Kathakali performance at 6.45 pm on Monday at HAL Ayyappa Temple auditorium, Vimanapura. The story of Prahlada Charitham will be presented by popular artistes from Kerala on the occasion of Prathishta Dinam.

Prahlada Charitham, authored by Madavoor Kelu Ahsan, narrates the story of Prahlada and the torments he went through due to his devotion to Lord Vishnu.

In the end Narasimha, the half-man half-lion incarnation of Lord Mahavishnu, emerges to save him from his father Hiranyakashipu.

The lead roles will be played by senior artistes Manojkumar as Hiranyakashipu and Pradeep as Narasimha. Other roles will be performed by Pramod (Sukracharyan) and Master Vishu (Prahladan). The vocals will be done by Vengeri Narayanan and Sreerag Varma, while the percussion will be led by Sadanam Ramakrishnan (chenda) and Aneesh (maddalam).

Make-up will be done by Kalanilayam Rajeev and the costumes will be managed by Sandarshan Kathakali Vidyalayam, Ambalapuzha. For more information about the performance, call 2522 6431 or 98862 12266.
