Healthy Ragi Idlis

BENGALURU: Ingredients

  •     Ragi flour -  1/2 cup
  •     Rice flour - 1/2 cup
  •     Small onion chopped -  1
  •     Fruit salt (Eno) - 1/2 tsp
  •     Salt to taste

For the tempering

  •     1 tbsp oil
  •     1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  •     1/2 tsp chana dal (split bengal grams)

Method

  •     Mix together ragi flour, rice flour and salt.
  •     Add a little water to make like a batter that can be poured into idli moulds.
  •     Add chopped onions and mix well.
  •     Heat oil in a small pan. Add cumin seeds and chana dal. When the chana dal is a little red, pour this tempering over the batter.
  •     Now add the fruit salt. Mix well and pour into the idli moulds.
  •     Steam for 20 minutes.
  •     Ready to serve. Goes well with sambhar and chutney.
