Though Sinful And Addictive, Stoner’s Is Not Illegal

Stoner’s newly opened branch at Koramangala is one-and-a-half-months old. It’s my urge for ice creams that brings me here, though they serve pizzas and burgers too. They don’t serve anything illegal, as the name would have you believe.

Their first outlet opened in November 2014, says owner Suraj Shyam. They get 200-300 visitors a day in Koramangala, which shoots up to 500 on weekends.

Let’s start with ice-creams: they are priced between Rs.120-170. My personal favourite is Nutty Fudgy (`150).  It’s a perfect blend of rich vanilla flavour with some roasted cashews, almonds, choco chip cookies, hot fudge and a special chocolate paste.

Shraddha Jena, a regular parton, says, “ There’s an ice cream called ‘Lychee lovers’ that’s my favourite. I like how refreshing the ice cream is.”

Nutella cheescake ice cream was the day’s special. They could’ve gone slow on Nutella with this one. Add other toppings too, maybe? Try the Santa Surprise since this is the only ice cream that contains some liquor flavoured sauce.

In pizzas, they serve both vegetarian and non-vegetarian varieties. Anusha Naveen, a customer, suggests Italian Chaska pizza (`210). “I love the combination of Italian and Indian flavours in it. The best things about the pizzas here is that they are all Indianised.” The non-vegetarians should try the ‘Murg Barbeque’ pizza (`240). It’s basically chicken with barbeque sauce and a good mix of toppings. However, their butter chicken pizza (`260) is what is popular. Mohammed Rauhaan vouches for this one. “It’s basically the cheese added on top that does it.”

In burgers, there are quick bites (`120-135) and mega bites (`170-185). I tried the Tawa Paneer Burger and would’ve liked a little more spice. Fish lovers try the ‘Crumb fried fish burger’!

To wash it all down I ordered my regular (at their Indiranagar outlet) Oreo shake (`140) and it did not let me down. The drink is addictive, like the biscuits.

As for the ambience, unlike other ice cream parlours in the city, this one makes an effort.

Stoner’s plan to have three more outlets in the city. More the merrier!
