

BENGALURU: Acting Chief Justice Shubhro Kamal Mukherjee on Tuesday evening took oath as the Chief Justice of the Karnataka High Court. Governor Vajubhai Vala administered the oath of office in a simple ceremony held at Raj Bhavan.
Mukherjee, who born on October 10, 1955, is a sixth-generation lawyer in his family. After obtaining MA, LLB, from the University of Calcutta, he joined the legal profession on July 5, 1982, as an advocate and practised in civil and writ matters. He was elevated as Permanent Judge of the High Court of Calcutta on September 15, 2000. He took oath as a Judge of Karnataka High Court on April 15, 2015. He was appointed as Acting Chief Justice June 1, 2015.
The post of Chief Justice was vacant after the then Chief Justice D H Waghela was elevated as Chief Justice of Mumbai High Court.
Farewell
Justice Vineet Saran was given a warm farewell by the High Court as well as Advocates Association of Bengaluru, as he was elevated as the new Chief Justice of Odisha High court. Justice Saran said the advocates in Karnataka have cooperated with him for the delivery of justice.
