It's Green, It's Fashionable

BENGALURU: The fashion show hosted by Prasad Bidapa was part of the BPAC event, which celebrated pourakarmikas’ contribution to the city.

Students of Vogue Institute of Fashion Technology were shortlisted to design 24 pieces using recyleable material, using Lal Bagh and Cubbon Park as theme for inspiration.

“We wanted to honor those who contribute towards the beautification of the city and maintain it, especially the Lalbagh,” said Bidapa who mentored the students.

For the show at ITC Gardenia, materials such as old textiles, plastic cups and spoons were used for fashioning the clothes.

The line had a three dimensionality to it as plastic was converted into huge floral pieces attached to  the clothes using hand embroidery.

“When old textiles reach the ground, they don’t break down into soil. Gallons of water is also wasted for weaving and dying,” said Bidapa.
